Until I am no longer white, and Will Smith is no longer black, racism will still exist. The only difference from racism 2.0and the beta version is the entitlement and guilt.
What do mean by this? I mean to say, today I am expected to feel guilty for my being born white and others being born whatever label has been placed on their ethnicity. Others believe that they are entitled to some sort or compensation or leeway for their being labeled. My response to this. Not my fault.
Like I said in class, we are all racist. Even those of you (myself included) have ever said "I have a black friend" etc.
Unlike some of you, I have experienced racism on a different level. As Eric mentioned in class, I have some experience with the law. I have been to prison. For what and all the other details are unimportant at this point. In prison, I have experienced so many different forms of racism it is unfathomable how I even think straight these days -some days I don't- I have been shunned, threatened, and beaten for my racial transgression. What were these transgressions. I played basketball with a black man; I won a basketball game against a black man, I was found to be white in a black neighborhood. I was too "black" to be white; I ate a meal with a black friend, I hugged my Polynesian friend. You see the list is defence and actually quite stupid. I've been called white boy by black friends and non-friends alike. I've been called "nigga" by black friends and have returned the favor. Yes, Ive even been called Ni%%ER by white men. I earned my "black card" by winning a basketball game against my friend from Compton only to be threatened later by his "people" to never disrespect the "brothas" like that again.
My point is we are all racist white, black, orange, yellow whatever color you may be, racism exist until we lose the labels
