Yay, I get the opportunity to sit and watch some entitled Demagogue, take sole credit for events and happenings that he has little or no responsibility for bringing to fruition. Stroking his ego, while other less talented hangers on, shamelessly participate in the stroking. Standing and clapping at the most innocuous statements.
This is what I expected when I started this assignment and for the most part, I was not disappointed. However, I also got to witness a very talented speaker work magic at his craft.
While The President worked his magic, I watched my social media feed anxiously waiting for the influx of memes and other comments from the world. I was disappointed. I received nothing on my feed. I have successfully shielded myself from rhetoric. That or perhaps my likes and dislikes on Facebook and friends list just do not care. Not saying that my friends list is a list of uneducated Americans but they just do not care anymore what the President as to say.
I, For the sake of the assignment tried to spark the fire by commenting myself on the Address. What I did I get? My wife laughed at me on social media!

Obamas remarks on how everyone has health insurance at an affordable rate stirred my emotions slightly. I have a hard time listening to someone who does not have the smallest connections with what is affordable tell me what I can and cannot afford.
What I concluded from this small look into my own connection with social media is that I need to take better control of what information I want. I cannot sit idly by and let Facebook decide for me that David Bowie’s death is of more importance than Iran capturing a group of American sailor’s hours before the S.O.T.U address and after receiving billions of dollars from America to get rid of nuclear material real or unreal.
Iran is important. Not as much as David Bowie, but I want to decide.
